LOCAL BY DESIGN
A little clarity
about privacy.
What happens when you visit this website, and how LocalScreen is designed to handle sharing between your devices.
Updated October 13, 2026. This describes the current website and development app. The apps are not yet available for public download.
This website
This site serves information and, when releases are ready, download links. It has no account system, contact form, mailing-list form, advertising scripts or visitor analytics scripts. Its page code does not set cookies or write to your browser’s local storage.
Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. Like any web host, it processes information in network requests, such as IP addresses and browser request details, to deliver and protect the service. That is separate from the screen and audio shared by the LocalScreen app. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for its practices.
Site illustrations and fonts do not require third-party media or font services. Clicking an external link takes you to that provider’s service and its own privacy practices.
Your picture and sound
LocalScreen is being built to send a window you choose and optional computer playback audio to a paired receiver over your local network. The app uses encrypted transport without a cloud media relay.
Computer playback audio can include other apps and notifications. It is not isolated to the selected window. Microphone and camera capture are not part of LocalScreen, and the receiver has no media-recording feature.
Use Stop on the computer to end a share. Pausing playback on the TV pauses its presentation, not capture on the computer.
Pairing and local records
The receiver stores random pairing identifiers and credential hashes in encrypted local storage to recognize paired computers. Its cryptographic keys use Android Keystore. Pairing records remain until you forget the paired computers or clear the app’s data. Forgetting pairings does not rotate the receiver’s certificate identity.
Automatic receiver app backup is disabled. Desktop apps also need local connection and pairing information to recognize your TV.
Diagnostics
The development app uses connection and playback measurements to help diagnose problems. Optional fixture diagnostics inspect timing and produce bounded measurements that can be returned to the connected sender. They do not save a recording of the shared picture or sound.
Basic operational messages can appear in local device logs. The reviewed receiver has no automatic support-report upload, advertising integration or analytics uploader.
Before the public apps arrive
This page will be updated for the actual released apps, including operator and support contact details and how any voluntarily submitted support information is handled. The final privacy disclosures and release checks are still being prepared.
For now, this website does not accept support uploads or collect contact information. Check download availability for release progress.
